Education
I am a recent graduate from Johns Hopkins University with degrees in both Biology and History of Medicine, Science, and Technology. My cumulative GPA is 3.62 and my major GPA is a 4.0. I am also currently an MCAT instructor for the PRINCETON REVIEW.
Experience
Throughout my academic career, I have instructed many students in both the classroom and in one-on-one private tutoring sessions due to my passion for helping others. As noted in my resume, I have been both a teaching assistant for courses at Hopkins, a volunteer tutor for inner city students, and a private tutor. From personal experience in pursuing a Biology degree from Johns Hopkins and studying for the MCAT, I have gained many study strategies that I hope to share with students to help them in their preparation for their subjects. I have much experience teaching both in the classroom and in a one-on-one setting. In regards to the former, I was a teaching assistant for two courses at Johns Hopkins University: Cellular Biology Lab and Electron Microscopy Lab. With roughly 30 undergraduate students per course, I learned how to effectively manage my time and convey difficult biological concepts into manageable terms for students to understand. My enthusiasm for teaching and experience with the material transforms the challenge of each lab into one that is manageable and fun. Students have often complimented me for my excellence in teaching through course evaluations. The experience has been rewarding as I learned how much I enjoy teaching, helping my peers, and have refined my teaching methods to be effective and influential. In regards to one-on-one tutoring, at Hopkins, I partnered with inter-city middle school children struggling in school through an outreach program called Pen Lucy. This partnership program was designed to improve math and English skills and provide peer-to-peer advice. In regards to relevant classes, I have taken biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, calculus, and many other biology courses like Reproductive Physiology at Hopkins. Additionally, I took geometry back in high school. I believe that I have definitely refined and improved my academic skills since high school due to my fruitful experiences at Hopkins. My teaching style is enthusiastic, detail oriented, fun, and focused on the student's individual strengths and weaknesses. I have helped many students improve their scores anywhere from 5-7 points. I have MUCH extensive knowledge in the content that I am ready to simplify and transform into manageable concepts.
